My Dog Yuki

 

I love dogs and cats, especially dogs. I have wanted a dog since I was a little girl. Deciding what breed we wanted was very difficult because my nana ji gave us a condition that a dog will only come to this house if it is small. I wanted a golden retriever but the vet told us that the Golden Retriever would be very big and that when we’d take it for a walk, it would be like it would take us for a walk. When we met with the breeder, he had two dogs. One was a Shih tzu and the other was a Maltese. My sister and I wanted both the dogs because they were so cute, the Shih tzu was so small and timid, whereas the Maltese showed more emotions the moment it saw us. My sister, my mother and my massi decided that we would get the Maltese. The Maltese was two months old. We went back home with the Maltese. We decided to name our dog Yuki. Yuki is the Japanese word for snow. We chose the name Yuki because it was as white as snow and Maltese is actually a Japanese dog breed. When we got back home everybody was so excited and happy to see Yuki but Yuki was very nervous. We got him a toy from the pet shop but he wasn’t really interested in playing with it. When it was night time he was very scared and sad, but he eventually fell asleep. The vet had told us to get him after a week to give him his Rabies shot. When we took him to the vet he didn’t seem to understand where we were, most of the dogs there were pretty scared to go in and were barking, but Yuki seemed to have no clue about what was going on. Yuki is a very playful, mischievous puppy. He turned 6 months on 30th June, so we took him out for a treat to a pet friendly cafe. Whenever the doorbell rings he starts barking like he’s a guard dog. During his walks, if he sees a dog twice his size he starts barking at it but when the big dog barks back he comes to hide behind me and it’s pretty funny. He has many toys but he has one favourite toy which is his bunny in a carrot. It’s a lot of fun taking care of a dog. We’re still teaching him some tricks, like handshake, jump, lie down, sit etc. My family and I love Yuki a lot.
