Lights of Landour

We had been planning for many weeks to go to Landour, Mussoorie. I was very excited because I was coming back from my trip to Ashoka. I really love travelling to the mountain areas of India because the view is breathtaking and so beautiful that one feels like staying there forever. We decided that we’d go to Landour for the weekend. Going to Landour was a 6 hour drive, but we took longer as we took many break during the way and there was some traffic in the end. We even took our dog, it was his first long car ride. We were told to bring jackets because it could get pretty chilly in the evenings and early mornings. When we reached there it was evening and not so cold. We were sitting outside with our relatives and eating pakodas, having tea and coffee, giving ourselves a break from the long drive. We were pretty exhausted and slept early. The next day we had gone for a walk early morning, it wasn’t as chilly as the hotel staff said it would be. While we were on a walk we had noticed that in the distance there were high mountains which were covered in snow. We all made a plan that we would explore a bit today as it was our last day and the next day we would go back the plains. We got ready for the day, we put our dog in a doggy carrier, which I was holding. I was nervous because we were told that there were monkeys there and would immediately notice bags and steal whatever is in the bags. Thankfully there were no monkeys on the way. We visited a very famous bakery in Landour which was famous for its cakes, cinnamon rolls etc. after visiting the bakery we had gone to the very famous spot in Landour, Chaar Dukaan. It was very crowded and there were monkeys waiting to pounce at people to steal their food. My massi and I sat down and ate pancakes and had ginger tea. The pancakes were very delicious and filled with chocolate. The next day, we were heading back to Delhi. It took us the whole day to reach Delhi as we had to take many stops. Many of us weren’t feeling well after getting down from the mountains. We reached home at night. I still miss the breathtaking view of Landour, the fresh smell of trees early in the morning and the monkeys playing with each other, some stealing food from the humans and some fighting to get food.
